registrymodification.xcu

Workaround is to backup the folder located on .config/libreoffice/4. The culprit is registrymodifications.xcu from the existing user session which caused the crash on Gnome Session but works fine under Gnome of Wayland. I cannot see which option causes the crash though. Reassigning to LibreOffice maintainer and include attachment.

What exactly do you mean with "backtrace on Gnome X Session", a crash of LibreOffice, or a crash of the X server?

I unfortunately cannot reproduce your problem when using your attached registrymodifications.xcu on a recent F22 under X, running none of "soffice", "soffice --writer", nor "soffice --impress".

A crash of the X server by simply starting any soffice as reported on journal:

$ journalctl -r | grep libreoffice
May 26 11:12:25 muamba-telus1603 libreoffice-writer.desktop[14271]: X IO Error
May 26 11:02:11 muamba-telus1603 libreoffice-impress.desktop[9074]: X IO Error

Note that was done with a fresh folder .config/libreoffice/4

So looks more plausible to chase this in the X server than in LO. An app should not be able to crash the X server.

Xorg.log output following the backtrace

Attached the Xorg.log containing the backtrace. Issue occurred when starting soffice with fresh configuration. Not sure if it is related to hybrid GPU support. The bug is set to high because inability to use LibreOffice in Gnome session other than Wayland.

Screencast of opening Libreoffice

Recorded attempt of opening LibreOffice which will lead to a crash of X session affecting the video too.

Comment 9 Luya Tshimbalanga 2015-07-04 16:56:14 UTC
I have update LibreOffice to the latest version on Fedora 22. I still received the crash after either creating or opening a file on Gonome X Session. I am unable to find a traceback about the cause and vainly attempt to capture the traceback.

$ journalctl -r | grep libreoffice
Jul 03 15:06:57 muamba-telus1603 libreoffice-writer.desktop[20559]: X IO Error

Comment 10 Luya Tshimbalanga 2015-07-11 21:20:35 UTC
I updated LibreOffice to 4.4.4.3-3.fc22 on a hybrid laptop (AMD A10 with Dual Radeon GPU). Aside some minor issues below:

> W: Unknown node under /registry/extlang: deprecated
> W: Unknown node under /registry/grandfathered: comments
> W: Unknown node under /registry/grandfathered: comments

The suite seems running fine and no longer encounter a X input-output error. I have no idea what caused the problem but everything seems working fine. I will continue testing for a few because closing this bug report.

Closing this bug now that the fix worked.
