Description Mike 2004-04-17 18:11:29 UTC
From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7b)
Gecko/20040316

Description of problem:
Boot fails after displaying initrd image load text.

Motherboard: Mostang P/I-P55TP4N
CPU: Intel Pentium 120
Chipset: Intel PCIset SB82437 (PIIX?)
Memory: 40MB (32+8)
HD: 1GB

FC2test2 was installed via removable HD on an Athlon machine.
Installation and booting is fine when the drive is in the Athlon machine.

Boot fails after GRUB boots and displays Kernel and Initrd versions.
No device probing, CPU identification, memory, bogomips, etc. or
module loading occurs.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-2.6.3-2.1.253.2.1

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot hard drive with FC2test2 installed.

Actual Results: Boot fails after kernel version and initrd version
display.

Expected Results: Kernel should have continued to boot

Additional info:

That will have installed the 686 kernel, which includes cmov
instructions, which the p120 doesn't have iirc.

You'll very likely need to install the 586 kernel.

The same is also true for any other 686 rpm's that may have been
installed.
