This problem appears in the current version of pcmanfm in Fedora 22: pcmanfm-1.2.3-2.fc22.x86_64 gnome-desktop3-3.16.2-1.fc22.x86_64 When clicking on a file I expect it or its background to change color, but nothing currently happens.
Confirmed, and currently the upstream does not know how to fix this.

While icon behavior is not the same as GTK2, as the behavior on the text space under the icon is now fixed, once closing. Icon behavior may be restored in the future.
