What size is the virtual display being used? Can you attach the logs from /tmp/? Does the screen look normal before you enter custom partitioning?
The kimchi host is down till Monday and I cannot test right now, but if you look at Bug 1212615 and the second attachment, there's a screenshot for the main screen proving it isn't clipped by Kimchi. The picture shows the size of screen is 800x600 px.
Note: It behaves differently in both products. In overall Fedora behaves a bit better.
The culprit was some device labels with a minimum width set too high. The custom partitioning spoke now fits in 800x600 but will probably have issues any smaller than that.
