RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description tingting zheng 2015-04-20 10:29:54 UTC
Description of problem:
virt-v2v doesn't support convert guest with 1 interface type to another,eg:interface type bridge to network

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
libguestfs-1.28.1-1.26.el7.x86_64
virt-v2v-1.28.1-1.26.el7.x86_64

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Check virt-v2v manual, only map network to network, bridge type to bridge.
# man virt-v2v
       -n in:out
       -n out
       --network in:out
       --network out
       -b in:out
       -b out
       --bridge in:out
       --bridge out
Map network (or bridge) called "in" to network (or bridge) called "out". If no "in:" prefix is
given, all other networks (or bridges) are mapped to "out".

2.-n and -b can be used at the same time.

Actual results:
As description.

Expected results:
virt-v2v can convert guest with all types of interface to another type.

Additional info:
Previous virt-v2v can map all types of interface to network or bridge.
# man virt-v2v
       -n network | --network network
Map all guest bridges or networks which don’t have a mapping in the configuration file to
           network.

This option cannot be used in conjunction with --bridge.

       -b bridge | --bridge bridge
Map all guest bridges or networks which don’t have a mapping in the configuration file to
           bridge.

This option cannot be used in conjunction with --network.

Comment 3 Richard W.M. Jones 2018-08-02 10:01:55 UTC
I suspect the --mac option fixes this, see:

https://github.com/libguestfs/libguestfs/commit/fe1a886612aa1f930070b321ef57aa4012224026

Comment 4 Richard W.M. Jones 2019-04-25 09:45:54 UTC
Can you see if the --mac option (see comment 3) does what you want? If so this option
is already available in RHEL 7 and so the bug can be closed -> CURRENTRELEASE.
