If we are connected to the VM details/console window, and invoke VM migration, we should make sure to reopen the details window of the VM once it arrives at the destination, so user interaction is minimally impacted.

Another option would be to try and use spice seamless migration support, but not sure how that will fit in with virt-manager's vmmDetails architecture

This is a migration nicety. I don't plan to implement it any time soon but if someone showed up with patches I would take a look at them. Closing as DEFERRED
