Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because
the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description of problem:
When trying to do several tasks at the same time, it is likely that some of them are stuck (i..e candlepin synchronization tasks).
There should be another way of cancelling tasks
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
6.0.8
How reproducible:
Often happens with first time syncronization
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install satellite, including manifest
2. Synchronize several products at the same time (i.e. RHEL 6+ RHEL7 + RHEV+ CloudForms+ OpenStack)
3. See tasks are in error state, stopped or pending
Actual results:
Trying to kill some tasks in the console, either foreman or dynaflow, does not work. Following steps in https://access.redhat.com/comment/913073#comment-913073?sc_cid=cp|emnt|sol|cmt& does not work either
Expected results:
Task should be cleaned and cancelled.
A visual clue should be added to show the customer that some tasks are running, including tasks in error with dependencies (thus no other tasks can proceed)
A visual clue should be added when adding new tasks ("There are tasks pending in error state for "pulp", it is possible that your task has to wait for the previous tasks to finish or be cancelled)
hammer should include a way to show all tasks, including those who are stopped, paused, and in error state
When choosing several tasks to cancel, you should be able to choose them with a single click (after a search)
You should be able to force a task to be cancelled, even if you offer the opportunity to do it again (cancel --> does not work --> force cancellation --> [option to reset it and start it again])

Since this issue was entered in Red Hat Bugzilla, the release flag has been
set to ? to ensure that it is properly evaluated for this release.

More thoughts, after getting my sync tasks stopped again in a 6.1 installation:
- Dynaflow console should be part of the tasks management elements
- In dynaflow, tasks should be linked. Today, they are independent one of each other, you can't know if one task is waiting for another task
- There should be possible to select many of them at the same time and restart, cancel them

Thank you for your interest in Satellite 6. We have evaluated this request, and we do not expect this to be implemented in product in the forseeable future. We are therefore closing this out as WONTFIX. If you have any concerns about this, please feel free to contact Rich Jerrido or Bryan Kearney. Thank you.
