Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 1219492
Use iburst option for NTP servers from DHCP
Last modified: 2015-11-19 03:30:15 EST
Description of problem: NTP servers obtained from DHCP are added by default in chrony's dhclient script without iburst option, which may slow down the initial synchronization unnecessarily. Servers in the default chrony.conf have iburst, so it makes sense to add the servers from DHCP with the option too, unless the NTPSERVERARGS option is set in /etc/sysconfig/network or similar. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): chrony-1.29.1-1 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. connect system to a network where DHCP provides NTP servers 2. check "chronyc -n sources" output and see how quickly the reachability register of the NTP servers from DHCP gets to 17 (four bits in octal) Actual results: several minutes Expected results: several seconds Additional info:
