RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description William Brown 2015-05-13 10:35:32 UTC
Description of problem:
type=AVC msg=audit(1431513105.519:14797): avc:  denied  { name_bind } for  pid=14364 comm="perl" src=389 scontext=staff_u:sysadm_r:sysadm_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023 tcontext=system_u:object_r:ldap_port_t:s0 tclass=tcp_socket

Attempting to run setup-ds.pl as sysadm_t user.

Comment 2 Milos Malik 2015-05-13 11:09:07 UTC
Are you running it in MLS?

Comment 3 William Brown 2015-05-14 04:18:15 UTC
No. Running targeted policy with a user that is in staff_t, with a transition to sysadm_t on sudo.

Comment 4 Miroslav Grepl 2015-07-16 08:27:03 UTC
And what are you trying to do?

Comment 5 William Brown 2015-07-25 01:56:39 UTC
Attempting to setup an LDAP server (389ds) with the install script setup-ds.pl. This attempts to bind to port 389 (ldap_port_t) as part of the installer, to determine if the port is in use and the server can use it.

However, at this stage, the script is still running under your users context. Normally this would be unconfined_t, but on my system it is sysadm_t. Thus the denial.
