RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Cole Robinson 2015-05-19 23:02:04 UTC
For some reason we ship the .vfd images on the .iso. I don't really understand what purpose that serves, the .vfd images are only for VM install time. So it seems they just needlessly add a few megabytes to the iso.

We should check with stake holders to make sure no one is depending on them, and if not, drop them from the iso. I think the only people we need to check with is RHEV/ovirt.

Comment 11 Danilo de Paula 2017-05-31 14:47:45 UTC
Tried to reach the affected part and didn't get a reply.
I'm closing this as WONTFIX.

Comment 12 Cole Robinson 2017-05-31 15:08:03 UTC
I'm pretty certain no teams are actually depending on this, so IMO this should still be removed and see if anyone complains. Keeping the VFD on the ISO is really redundant and just increases the (already large) package size

Comment 13 Jeff Nelson 2017-06-15 14:15:39 UTC
This looks easy enough to do; just add

   -m '*.vfd'

to the mkisofs command in virtio-win.spec.

We should measure the size impact. The current size of virtio-win-1.9.1-0.el7.noarch.rpm is 31M (32435472).

Clearing needinfo; given that there has been no response it's reasonable to assume there is no interest and/or impact.

Re-opening the BZ and deferring to rhel-7.5.

Comment 16 lijin 2018-01-18 02:15:31 UTC
Check in virtio-win-1.9.4-1.el7.noarch, there is no vfd in the iso file.

So change status to verified.
