Hi friends! Even though ddclient in Fedora is the same version as the upstream, I believe that it should be updated as it is almost two years old and git shows active development over that period. I am, personally, interested in this to be able to use CloudFlare for my dynamic IP, but others would probably benefit from this as well. Kind regards, Momo.
Created attachment 1028954 [details] patch for proposed spec file
If this can help, I updated the SPEC file and it seems to work just fine (changes should be in compliance with packaging rules). Attached is the patch that show differences between current spec file and mine (there are only few). Also, here are the updated .srpm and .spec files: https://fedorauser.fedorapeople.org/ddclient/ddclient-3.8.2-3.20150523git7a3d0f9.fc21.src.rpm https://fedorauser.fedorapeople.org/ddclient/ddclient.spec
I don't know or don't recall why I'm listed as the owner of this package, I didn't create it and don't recall ever touching it or claiming it. In fact it seems to be supposed to be retired. Dennis, do you have any idea what's going on here? git lists it as retired but pkgdb has it active for Rawhide and 22.
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/package/ddclient/timeline -> http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.redhat.fedora.devel/197959 So, a misunderstanding. And you could have orphaned/retired it again after giving access to cicku in November.
I am willing to take this package and maintain it, but I need a sponsor. I was trying to get into packaging for some time, and have read all the wiki's and guidelines. I am not yet 'at-home' with all the info I read, but I think I know how to build and review my packages; what is good and bad practice in packaging, what is allowed and what is not... So, please hold off orphaning of this package just yet - I need to go through process of joining the packagers and then I'll take it on :) Thanks, Momo.
I will add the updated .spec and .src.rpm files for the stable release 3.8.3. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 1226537 ***
