Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Lukas Zapletal 2015-06-01 07:59:36 UTC
Hello,

we are adding new type of disk: "subnet" image for 6.1. Please put the additional paragraph in the docs. You will get the final version in the diff of the README file in this pull request:

https://github.com/theforeman/foreman_bootdisk/pull/9

Thanks.

Lukas,

Is there a bug I can follow/link for this so that I know when the feature is merged?

Hayley, sorry for huge delay, we are likely hitting the very last compose with this one. Hopefully next week: https://github.com/theforeman/foreman_bootdisk/pull/9

While the new Provisioning Guide does mention subnet images briefly, there are still some details that can be added to the documentation via this bug.

Moving back to NEW and the default assignee to be triaged as the schedule allows.

Assigning to Julie for review.

Julie - let's use this bug to add some detail to 'Creating New Hosts with PXE-less Provisioning' in the Provisioning Guide.

Namely, the following changes look like they will be required -

* Add the table comparing features to the start of the section with a line
calling out what the table is for.

* Move the descriptions of image types to the start of the section underneath
the above table, and provide a few more details about each. In particular,
the description of the subnet image should mention the following details,
  although not verbatim -

"Subnet images are similar to generic images, but chain-loading is done via
the TFTP Smart Proxy assigned to the Subnet of the host. The smart proxy
must have the "Templates" module enabled and configured.

This image is generic for all hosts with a provisioning NIC on that subnet."

* The location where the descriptions used to be should just tell users that
they can click the image type to download that image.

* The CLI user commands should be broken into discrete sub-sections, with one
  section for each image type.

* A new sub-section on writing the ISO to a USB stick should be added to
let users know how to perform this operation if needed.

Are you referring to the table in 6.1 docs? It has been removed from 6.2 already.

Hi Julie,

Thank you for your needinfo request.

We talked about this in person as well, but this does indeed refer to the table that is included in both Satellite 6.1, but most importantly, in the docs on GitHub.

Let me know if there is anything else you need!

Kind regards,

Andrew

Updating target milestone to 'GA'.

As we are pushing close to GA, I have reassigned this to myself and QA to swadeley to try and get this finished on time.
