RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Red Hat Product Errata RHBA-2015:2215 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE gnome utilities bug fix and enhancement update 2015-11-19 08:26:52 UTC

Description Oliver Ilian 2015-06-02 14:12:15 UTC
Description of problem:
file-roller can only be opened once in RHEL 7. If you try to open a second archive while file-roller is open, nothing happens. You can also not compress/uncompress another file/folder while file-roller is running.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
file-roller-nautilus-3.8.3-3.el7.x86_64
file-roller-3.8.3-3.el7.x86_64

How reproducible:
Every time you do a file-roller action while file-roller is open already.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open file-roller
2. double click on an archive

Actual results:
Second file-roller is not opening

Expected results:
File-roller should support multiple instances.

Additional info:
Starting a second file-roller in a Terminal gives:

[ohaessle@ohaessle ~]$ file-roller
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NotSupported: Application does not handle command line arguments

Comment 1 Vadim Rutkovsky 2015-06-02 14:18:12 UTC
Still actual in RHEL7.2 (file-roller-3.14.2-2.el7.x86_64) with slightly different result:

While Archive Manager window is opened one cannot mount archives anymore (its a default action in Nautilus), while a different Archive Manager window can be opened via 'Open With Application' context menu

Comment 2 Vitezslav Humpa 2015-06-17 09:48:43 UTC
Either of these does not seem to be an issue anymore with the latest 7.2 compose containing the file-roller-3.14.2-2.el7. As to c#1, tough to say, though perhaps a gvfs update for #1229178 has fixed this issue as well.

Comment 4 Vitezslav Humpa 2015-09-01 10:13:47 UTC
Re-tested on official build of file-roller-3.14.2-5.el7. Neither of the issues described in c#0 and c#1 is present. Moving to verified.
