RFE: would you guys consider switching to Wine Staging to match Fedora 22's decision to use Wine Staging in place of Wine? (Hopefully, Wine Staging will actually fix some bugs!)
EPEL already uses wine-staging.
(In reply to Michael Cronenworth from comment #1) > EPEL already uses wine-staging. Hi Michael, Better double check! As of http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/7/SRPMS/w/wine-1.7.22-1.el7.src.rpm You are still on regular Wine. $ cat /etc/redhat-release Scientific Linux release 7.1 (Nitrogen) $ wine --version wine-1.7.22 $ cat /etc/redhat-release Fedora release 22 (Twenty Two) $ wine --version wine-1.7.43 (Staging) Changing this from RFE to a bug and reopening
At one time it was enabled, but the last build disabled it. @Besser, is there a reason why EPEL has wine-staging disabled?
I would like to keep the "stable" Wine releases in EPEL. Wine Staging doesn't release stable updates. With Wine's new version model happening soon this should improve EPEL releases so that staging is not required.

Regular wine is tragically bug riddled and reported bugs go on for years and years and years without being worked on. This is mainly caused by a conflict of interest on their part as they all work for Cross Over Office and are waiting for your pain to get to the point that you cough up and put them on your payroll, which is impossible for small businesses, like mine. Would you like a list of these bugs and the amount of YEARS they have ignored them? I have reported quite a few. Now Staging, on the other hand, does correct reported bugs. They have correct every bug (or assisted with my problems with them) that I have reported. Staging is a far SUPERIOR product in quality and customer responsiveness. I can also provide you with a list of the bugs Staging has corrected for me and the time frame in which they did this. It is insane to go with regular Wine. The bug, the bugs, the bugs, the bugs, the conflict of interest. What would be ABSOLUTELY IDEA would be if you just rebuilt whatever version of Staging that Fedora is running. And very, very few Windows programs have 64 bit versions, so please also provide the 32 bit Wine Stating as well. (64 bit Wine does not support 32 apps.) So, I am reopening this for your reconsideration. Please do not go the regular Wine route. It is trash. Been there, done that, never want to do that again! Please have a heart for your users. -T
