OpenVPN TLS configuration

I found such an issue in the UI / advanced settings / TLS parameters.

If you activate something like "Check peer signature", you will have a selection menu with two choices : client or server.

In French, server is translated as "serveur".
This string is taken as-is inside the openvpn config file in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections.

Of course, then, OpenVPN fails on this setting. See the attached screenshot to clarify my description.

The expected behavior is that the "server" choice is a technical paramater that should not be translated.

I have not tested if similar issues may arise in other options.

I cannot reproduce this with NetworkManageropenvpn.x86_64, 1:1.0.2-2.fc22

what is your language setting?
  echo $LANG

I tried setting a french language, saw the "Serveur", but storing the connection correctly set "server". As the source code in question looks right.

This needs some more information of how to reproduce it.

Then, this is weired, I can reproduce it all the time...

% echo $LANG
fr_FR.UTF-8

Comment 3 Jirka Klimes 2015-06-12 07:10:03 UTC
I am not able to reproduce as well. What UI do you actually use? It is a bit different what I can see. Is it nm-connection-editor, gnome-control-center or something else?

rpm -q NetworkManager-openvpn
rpm -q nm-connection-editor
rpm -q control-center

Comment 4 Jean-Christophe Baptiste 2015-06-12 08:02:20 UTC
I was using the GUI as provided with KDE (along with other packages as dependencies), which is I believe kde-plasma-nm.
Could it be overloaded from there ?

I thought that plasma-nm uses the same UI component for VPNs as provided by nm-applet. Guess I am wrong about that...

plasma-nm is not part of official NetworkManager package, but of the kde suite.
Could you verify that this only happens with plasma-nm, but not with nm-connection-editor/nm-applet?

I tend to reassign the bug component.

Comment 6 Jean-Christophe Baptiste 2015-06-13 09:04:54 UTC
Correct, I just tested from Gnome and no issue there.

Comment 7 Thomas Haller 2015-06-15 09:50:59 UTC
reassigning bug to 'plasma-nm'
