Description Peter Rajnoha 2015-06-10 07:04:46 UTC
Description of problem:
At first, this was filed with virt-manager as I'm using that one instead of virsh to manage my VMs - see also bug #1225771.

It seems libvirt holds incorrect name for the wireless LAN, probably as a result of a rename between Fedora upgrades - I'm hitting this error since updgrade from F21 to F22.

In my case, there's no "wlan0" anymore, but "wlp3s0" instead. However, wlan0 is still the one in libvirt's records:

[0] alatyr/~ # virsh nodedev-list | grep wlan
net_wlan0_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx

[0] alatyr/~ # virsh nodedev-dumpxml net_wlan0_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx
error: unable to read: /sys/class/net/wlan0/operstate: No such file or directory

There's also the new name correctly recorded:

[0] alatyr//home/peter # virsh nodedev-list | grep wlp
net_wlp3s0_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx

[0] alatyr//home/peter # virsh nodedev-dumpxml net_wlp3s0_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx
<device>
  <name>net_wlp3s0_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx_xx</name>
  <path>/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1c.1/0000:03:00.0/net/wlp3s0</path>
  <parent>pci_0000_03_00_0</parent>
  <capability type='net'>
    <interface>wlp3s0</interface>
    <address>xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx</address>
    <link state='down'/>
    <capability type='80211'/>
  </capability>
</device>

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
[0] alatyr/~ $ rpm -q libvirt
libvirt-1.2.13.1-1.fc22.x86_64

If you need more debug info, just tell I'll paste it here...

Sorry this didn't receive a timely response. Can you still reproduce on f23+ ?

Comment 2 Peter Rajnoha 2016-04-18 08:20:38 UTC
Nope, I can't reproduce this anymore. So I think we can close this one.
