Description of problem: it almost appears that there is no pointer acceleration. For example, if I move relatively slowly at speed "a" across the screen with "x" distance traveled on the trackpad and "x'" distance of pointer travel on the screen, moving the same "x" distance on the trackpad at a much higher speed "b" still results in "x'" of pointer travel on the screen. Normally the second scenario would result in a much larger pointer travel distance. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 0.17.0-1.fc22 How reproducible: Very reproducible. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Configure pointer speed to about 25% 2. Start the pointer on the left side of the screen 3. Start finger on the left side of the trackpad 4. use 1 to 2 seconds to slide finger to the right, either stopping when the pointer hits the right screen edge, or when your finger hits the right edge of the trackpad. 5. Note the stopping point of your finger on the trackpad or the pointer on the screen 6. Do the same test but slide finger in 250-500 milliseconds (ie: much faster) Actual results: Note that the stopping point of the cursor is in roughly the same spot. Expected results: I would expect that the cursor would have moved significantly farther in the second test. Additional info: I selected 25% as a preference because at 50% it's much too fast to for fine tuned movement and clicking.

I didn't notice much change on this particular test case. If I go really really slow (ie: take 5 seconds to go across the screen) then it doesn't cover as much distance. It seems that I hit the acceleration window using speeds of a trackpad distance per 1-2 or 5 seconds. It seems like the window would be more useful for speeds of a trackpad distance per .25-.5 or 2 seconds. I think this goes along with what you originally said as your "gut feeling" in your email: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/wayland-devel/2015-June/022534.html
