Description Ralf Corsepius 2015-06-12 13:34:09 UTC
Description of problem:

/usr/bin/rpm on all release versions of Fedora supports --recommends, --suggests, --supplements, --enhances but lacks the corresponding --what* command line options

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
rpm-4.12.0.1-*.src.rpm

Expected results:
rpm to support these command line options

Additional info:
I consider rpm supporting these options to be a necessary requirement to allow soft/weak-deps in Fedora packaging

Comment 1 Florian Festi 2015-06-12 14:23:18 UTC
These got added upstream recently and are going to make it into F23. See commit 93a2f6ae9285298830c0c62dbf2d62c4acd7d1b1

Please reopen if this is important enough to be back ported to F22 and F21.

Reopening

- This BZ was referring to Fedora. I.e. you should close it wnen it is fixed in Fedora. The fact upstream may or may not have implemented something is irrelevant.

- This BZ was filed against Fedora 21, because even Fedora 21 already contains packages using soft/weak deps.

- As I wrote above - I consider this feature to be a blocker for weak/soft deps.

Comment 3 Neal Gompa 2015-06-12 22:06:35 UTC
I would like to state my support for having it backported to F21 and F22, because being able to do these queries is important for certain kinds of evaluation of soft/weak dependencies.

TL;DR: +1
