Description Vimal Kumar 2015-07-21 09:47:12 UTC
1. Proposed title of this feature request

ceph-disk doesn't create a proper symlink to an existing journal disk. This has already been reported upstream and patched in Hammer.

The upstream tracker can be seen at http://tracker.ceph.com/issues/10146.

This is a feature request to get this backported to RHCS1.2.3 since it's not fixed in Firefly

There are no customers requesting this now, but there are high chances any of them will face this in the near future.

2. What is the nature and description of the request?

ceph-disk doesn't handle replacing HDDs well when sharing a journal SSD

3. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?

The upstream tracker is at http://tracker.ceph.com/issues/10146.

4. Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL5, RHEL6)?

RHCS1.2.3

5. List any affected packages or components.

ceph, ceph-disk

6. Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?

Yes

Comment 5 Ken Dreyer (Red Hat) 2015-10-19 22:28:46 UTC
The code changes for firefly (https://github.com/ceph/ceph/pull/5541) are presently targeted for v0.80.11 upstream.

Comment 6 Ken Dreyer (Red Hat) 2015-12-08 16:43:42 UTC
Closing all RHCS 1.2 bugs, since we are not planning to do a formal RHCS 1.2.4 release.

This particular issue was already fixed in Hammer / RHCS 1.3.
