Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 1251126
[RFE] EL 7.2 emulated machine level
Last modified: 2016-02-10 14:23:21 EST
We want to use 7.2 qemu-kvm and the emulated machine type for consistency
Needed for latest QEMU features available in qemu 2.3 (namely hotplug RAM)
pending on CentOS 7.2 availability
RHEV specific changes should be reverted once this is addressed upstream
Since CentOS 7.2 is still not released the proper 7.2 support needs to wait.
Still, we want to do it as soon as it is out as some features depend on it(namely ppc64le) and it has a couple of bug fixes in qemu/libvirt already
Ok so, the new qemu and related packages are now delivered by the following ovirt repos:
and the following cbs repo:
Fixed bug tickets must have version flags set prior to fixing them. Please set the correct version flags and move the bugs back to the previous status after this is corrected.
Target release should be placed once a package build is known to fix a issue. Since this bug is not modified, the target version has been reset. Please use target milestone to plan a fix for a oVirt release.
This bug is marked for z-stream, yet the milestone is for a major version, therefore the milestone has been reset.
Please set the correct milestone or drop the z stream flag.

Please define verification steps to be performed in order to verify the bug.
on 3.6 cluster, RHEL hosts must support the 'pc-i440fx-rhel7.2.0' emulated machine type.
steps to reproduce:
1. add rhel host with older qemu package that doesnt support the above machine type.
2. host should move to non-operational.
3. update qemu package to support this type.
4. activate host.
5. host moves to up
Works for me on these components:
# rpm -qa vdsm libvirt-client sanlock qemu-kvm-rhev mom ovirt*
Deployment was executed on two hosts and over NFS SD.
Since oVirt 3.6.0 has been released, moving from verified to closed current release.
