RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description David Ward 2015-08-15 22:14:03 UTC
Dell-branded Sierra Wireless modems will not come online without first sending a DMS Set FCC Authentication command. For more information: https://sigquit.wordpress.com/2015/02/09/dell-branded-sierra-wireless-3g4g-modem-not-online/

This issue was fixed in upstream ModemManager: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/ModemManager/ModemManager/commit/?id=a83d1c70b1f433bcb9a33b4cb1b5e3032050a104

I backported this commit onto RHEL 7 (ModemManager-1.1.0-6.git20130913.el7), and tested that a Dell Wireless 5808e modem now successfully connects to the network. Please add the attached patch to the RHEL 7 ModemManager package.

NOTE: This requires support for the DMS Set FCC Authentication command in libqmi (see blocking bug). This is a build dependency, as the command is part of the libqmi-glib API, so please adjust BuildRequires: accordingly.

This bug was accidentally moved from POST to MODIFIED via an error in automation, please see mmccune with any questions

Comment 11 Dan Williams 2016-07-19 15:11:38 UTC
Integrated support for FCC auth is now present upstream in ModemManager as of f5cd7476f4bcd3961d408b603344ad5fff03e40d. Requires libmbim 1.14+ and libqmi 1.16+

Comment 13 Vladimir Benes 2016-09-21 13:32:46 UTC
David, could you please check with beta release (or anything newer) if everything works as expected? I think it's connected to bug 1253943 as well.

Comment 14 Vladimir Benes 2016-09-28 11:51:36 UTC
Dan Williams verified that this is working well
