RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Ladislav Kolacek 2015-08-20 07:37:08 UTC
Description of problem:
Test case failure: https://tcms.engineering.redhat.com/case/245166/?from_plan=18656

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-3.10.0-305.el7.ppc64
gnome-packagekit-3.14.3-5.el7.ppc64

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Have some functioning yum repositories installed. Normal beaker installs will install appropriate files in /etc/yum.repos.d/ . If no functioning repositories are available, the test plan document has instructions for building RPMs and creating repositories.
2. If eog is installed, uninstall it. In a terminal window, as root, run "rpm -e eog".
3. Confirm that eog is no longer installed by running, in a terminal window, "rpm -q eog". It should say, "package eog is not installed".
4. In a terminal window, as a non-root user, run "gpk-application".

5. Using the search field in the upper left, in "Search by name" mode (the hourglass icon; change via drop-down if needed), search for "eog".
6. Click the (presumably unchecked) checkbox next to "Eye of Gnome image viewer" (eog) which should appear on the right.
7. Click the "Apply Changes" button which should appear in the upper right.

Actual results:
Nothing happen. No query on authentication appears.

Expected results:
Provide the (sudo) user's or the "Administrator" (root) password when prompted and finish installation.

Additional info:
Problem appeared on architectures: ppc64, ppc64le

Same problem with applying changes when removing component.

Comment 1 Ladislav Kolacek 2015-08-20 08:43:41 UTC
It's not the problem of gnome-packagekit. It is necessary to join into VM by x11vnc (not vncserver). Otherwise you cannot see authentication window and so on in gnome-software 'Update' tab will be hidden etc.
