RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Vadim Rutkovsky 2015-08-20 08:36:59 UTC
Caribou crashes often during a11y actions are performed. Doesn't happen on
other arches except s390x

sorry I just got beaker instance and installed gnome packages along with caribou, I enabled "Screen Keyboard" and in gnome-terminal I can type using caribou.

Can you be more specific on exactly on what actions done, you get caribou crashed?

The issue occurs pretty randomly, it seems to occur on a wide variety of component tests on s390x (e.g. gucharmap start/stop tests)

My best guess is that it can be triggered by 'systemctl start gdm; sleep 2; systemctl stop gdm' with autologin setup.

Just to update here I have no s390x system with me to test this bug. If anyone can give me steps on x86_64 architecture then I can find some time to work on this.

Comment 9 Parag Nemade 2018-09-19 12:58:57 UTC
Request to provide s390x testing for new On-Screen Keyboard coming from gnome-shell in RHEL-7.6 release.

Comment 10 Jens Petersen 2019-11-04 04:53:00 UTC
I am still curious why is a11y needed particularly on s390x: what kind of use-case?

But Caribou is no longer used by Gnome Shell in RHEL 7.6+, so perhaps this bug can be closed.
