Hi All,

Request for Enhanmcement:

I am coming from the community: Scientific Linux 7.1

I am now on the XFS file system and have switched over from ext's dump. I am regretting the loss of two of my favorite featue from dump:

1) would you consider allow me to back up a directory that is not a mount point?

2)  would you consider compression?

Many thanks,
-T

$ rpm -qa xfsdump
xfsdump-3.1.4-1.el7.x86_64

1) use the "-s pathname" option - "Restricts the dump to files contained in the specified pathnames (subtrees)." - see xfsdump(8)

2) xfsdump output can be streamed to a stdout and compressed via a pipe.
