Description Richard Jasmin 2015-09-15 20:31:43 UTC
Description of problem:
well, ok we have no general package in the list and it seems this app got shoved into cdrkit but it has nothing to do with burning anything.

dirsplit is supposed to COPY data not move it.Now we have a serious data loss problem when using it. The idea was to use it instead of zipping a spanned archive because over a certain size it just isnt worth it to zip. Most of your files(MPEG,JPG) are stream-zipped anyways.

mind you to use it correctly you need to be above user's home folders so you need to be root. I have no idea why catalog mode is even used.

As directed, move option is used instead.

Last time I tried this app was on debian and it didnt copy the exec permissions on the folders it made, or it clearly removed this permission.

What happens is that nothing gets moved.Whatever files are there to process get removed. No files are in destination, but the folder structure is there.

I hope you made a backup. YOU WILL NEED IT.

This app needs to be removed until the problem fixed upstream. It is unsafe to use.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
22

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. sudo dirsplit -e4 -m -s 50GB /home/me/
I dont follow links because wine links the whole drive to itself.

Actual results:
!!!!!!!!!

Expected results:
This should work.
