To sidestep deficiencies in apper/PackageKit (see bug #1098735 and bug #1181859) kde-sig wants include muon discover in desktop favorites instead plasma-desktop-5.4.2-3 build does just that: %changelog * Fri Oct 16 2015 Rex Dieter <rdieter> 5.4.2-3 - default_favorites.patch: -apper, +muon-discover
Proposed as a Freeze Exception for 23-final by Fedora user rdieter using the blocker tracking app because: To sidestep deficiencies in apper/PackageKit (see bug #1098735 and bug #1181859), kde-sig wants include muon discover in desktop favorites instead. It's a minimal change, but ideally included in f23 ga, since it only affects users' first login after installing this update. For example, users with first login before installing this will not benefit from it.
plasma-desktop-5.4.2-3.fc23 has been submitted as an update to Fedora 23. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2015-719a3f2389
It also affects the favorites on the live session itself.
In this case, no it does not, that's spin-kickstarts: https://git.fedorahosted.org/cgit/spin-kickstarts.git/tree/fedora-live-kde-base.ks?h=f23#n38 (It makes less sense to show software management tools on a live image)
(that's only for the default liveuser of course)
Discussed at 2015-10-26 blocker review meeting: [1]. This bug was accepted as Freeze Exception: It would be good to get a tested fix for this into the next compose. [1] https://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/fedora-blocker-review/2015-10-26/f23-blocker-review.2015-10-26-16.00.html
Revoking the update, muon has been found to be too unstable: * fails to install (and crash) for some users (something I've not been able to reproduce yet, but we've also had multiple confirmations) * fails to remove any package, and (sometimes?) crashes, I just filed, https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=354415

This message is a reminder that Fedora 23 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 23. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '23'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 23 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 23 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2016-12-20. Fedora 23 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
