Description Andrew Martynov 2004-07-12 06:50:37 UTC
Description of problem:
I use DVD-R media to store in archive ISO images of all Red Hat
distros ( RHL, RHEL, Fedora ).

Some time I`d like to install OS from such DVD disk and I can not use
Hard Drive installation method to install from ISO images located on
DVD-drive. I have to create additional partition on hard drive and
copy ISO images from DVD-disk to this new partition, then install OS
from temporary images.

Is it possible to include DVD-Drive to list of devices showed in HD-
method source list?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot from boot Floppy
2. Select Hard Drive method
3. View list of available source drives

Actual results:

No, if you're going to install from DVD media, burn the ISO filesystem
to the media instead of the ISO in a different filesystem. The latter
just leads to far too many user complications (eg, why do you display
my _cd/dvd_ drive for a _hard drive_ installation?)
