Description Rainer Koenig 2015-12-01 08:30:09 UTC
Description of problem:
Tried to run BLURAY test with a BD-RE media that was used in another test previously. Test fails.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
redhat-certification-hardware-1.7.1-20151113.el7

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install RHEL7.2 and redhat-certification suite
2. select BLURAY test from web interface
3. Answer question for using BD-RE with yes and insert a used BD-RE into drive

Actual results:
Test fails with the following error log:

  Your device /dev/sr0 supports bd-re, bd-r, bd

response: True

response: True
  Tray closed ...

  Verifiying media type: bd-re ...
  Media Matched: Media in drive now is bd-re

  +++ Start testing ...

  +++ Start writing ...
  This may take some time, please be patient ...
FATAL: /dev/sr0 already carries isofs!
  +++ Error: Write BD-R/RE disk failed !

Expected results:
Test procedure should format media before trying to write on it. At least that was what previous versions of the bluray did.

Thanks for bringing this up.

I do indeed on https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux_Hardware_Certification/1/html-single/Test_Suite_User_Guide/index.html not see that the disc has to be formatted.

So these 2 ideas:
- if attempt to create filesystem, hwcert should try to format by itself
- or the suite itself and the docs should mention that the disc has to be empty/formatted.

Comment 2 Rainer Koenig 2015-12-01 12:12:14 UTC
I blanked one BD-RE with dvd+rw-format and just started the bluray test with this blank disc again. Lets see if we succeed.
