Created attachment 1102576 [details] debugdata as tar (nothing interesting here, pasting it for reference) Description of problem: Maybe there's some obvious reason for this, but it seems really confusing that dnf does not update the i686 package: $ dnf list nosync Installed Packages nosync.i686 1.0-2.fc21 @@commandline nosync.x86_64 1.0-3.fc23 @fedora All incanations have the same result: $ dnf upgrade nosync $ dnf upgrade nosync.i686 $ dnf upgrade nosync.i686 --best $ dnf upgrade nosync.i686 --best --allowerasing Nothing to do. Complete! Installing the package directly works without any issue: $ dnf install https://kojipkgs.fedoraproject.org//packages/nosync/1.0/3.fc23/i686/nosync-1.0-3.fc23.i686.rpm Dependencies resolved. ==================================================================== Package Arch Version Repository Size ==================================================================== Upgrading: nosync i686 1.0-3.fc23 @commandline 15 k Transaction Summary ==================================================================== Upgrade 1 Package Total size: 15 k Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): dnf-1.1.4-1.fc23.noarch How reproducible: 100% Actual results: dnf sees the .x86_64 version of the package and completely ignores .i686. Expected results: a) dnf upgrades the .i686 version along with the other arches automatically. or at least b) dnf upgrades the .i686 version when told to do so explicitly.
Do you have i686 repo enabled?
I'm not sure. Where exactly would it be enabled or disabled? /etc/yum.repos.d/fedora.repo has [fedora] name=Fedora $releasever - $basearch failovermethod=priority #baseurl=http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/$releasever/Everything/$basearch/os/ metalink=https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=fedora-$releasever&arch=$basearch enabled=1 metadata_expire=28d gpgcheck=1 gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-$releasever-$basearch skip_if_unavailable=False so it should work for any $basearch. I'm able to install i686 packages just fine, and the F21→F23 upgrade upgraded hundreds of i686 packages just fine. $ dnf install systemtap-devel.i686 Last metadata expiration check performed 0:05:58 ago on Tue Dec 8 19:32:42 2015. Now I have a related issue on a different machine, freshly upgraded to F22. I wanted to install nosync (both x86_64 and i686 versions) to do mock builds. I am able to install nosync.x86_64 just fine, but dnf doesn't want to install the .i686 version: $ dnf install nosync.i686 Last metadata expiration check performed 2:53:02 ago on Sat Dec 12 12:27:33 2015. No package nosync.i686 available. Error: Unable to find a match. but other .i686 packages work. Maybe it's needs to be whitelisted in mash multilib thing? Tentatively reassigning.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 23 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 23. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '23'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 23 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.
Fedora 23 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2016-12-20. Fedora 23 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
