kbd 2.0.2 and below has an issue in which setfont will take five seconds to decide to fail on systems that don't have fonts (which can happen on non-graphical systems, which is easily triggerable using QEMU if nothing else). It's fixed upstream here: http://git.altlinux.org/people/legion/packages/kbd.git?p=kbd.git;a=commitdiff;h=4f4aad5938be9dcd15ca2963823fc3f6c5c7b7e1 If you're okay with a critical-path update for a boot speedup that doesn't really fix a bug (other than slowness), could you consider either backporting the fix or bumping to 2.0.3? The version in Rawhide should be fine already. I can trigger this bug basically every time by running: $ virtme-run --installed-kernel
Thanks Andy, I've backported the fix. The change doesn't look risky and the positive benefit is quite big, so I'm okay with critical-path update.
