Description of problem: dnf system-upgrade download --releasever=23 fails with the following error file /usr/share/plasma/desktoptheme/default/widgets/notes.svgz conflicts between attempted installs of kdeplasma-addons-5.4.2-1.fc23.x86_64 and kf5-plasma-5.17.0-2.fc23.x86_64 Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): As above. How reproducible: Well, it seems quite sure that it cannot continue. Steps to Reproduce: Follow wiki recommended procedure for system upgrade to version 23. 1-3. Follow instructions in steps 1-3: update and reboot system (ensure Fedora 21 is fully updated); dnf install dnf-plugin-system-upgrade (nothing to do: already installed). 4. Attempt step 4, dnf system-upgrade download --releasever=23. Wait. Actual results: Steps 1-3 go fine. System is already updated, but I reboot just in case. The plugin is already installed. Step 4 fails with above error. Expected results: Step 4 succeeds and the update to version 23 is ready for installation. Additional info: I am attempting to update from Fedora 21 to Fedora 23. I originally installed the KDE spin. Hence, it wants the KDE desktop updated rather than GNOME (which is not installed).
kdeplasma-5.5.0 is in stable updates that fixes this. I'll consider adding some dependencies (or Conflicts) to enforce this.

If I add --best to the command line I get Error: cannot install both kdeplasma-addons-5.5.0-3.fc23.x86_64 and kdeplasma-addons-5.4.2-1.fc23.x86_64 But why does it want to install both and what do I need to do to use the 5.5.0 version if that resolves it?
Good question, it definitely should not try to install 2 versions of the same thing :-/ If you want a quick-n-dirty workaround for now, uninstall/remove kdeplasma-addons, upgrade, then re-install it
kf5-plasma-5.17.0-3.fc23 has been submitted as an update to Fedora 23. https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2015-4b1b145426
Thanks, removing kdeplasma-addons allowed update to succeed. The upgrade has lost all custom KDE settings and I no longer have the KDE settings application to configure the system, but it boots OK. (And maybe these losses are in the To Be Expected category.)
sounds like you upgraded from f21/kde4, yeah, most desktop-related settings do not translate to the newer plasma5
Does KDE settings no longer exist in Plasma5 on Fedora? I still have this application on my Arch machine, which I switched to Plasma5 a while ago. But I can't find it on Fedora. If I could just find this so that I can switch the mouse buttons back, I'd be able to figure out the rest, I expect, at my leisure. But I trying to think about every single click is not easy.
