Comment 3 John Sellers 2016-01-21 03:02:17 UTC
Description of problem:
After using the internet for about 25 minutes, the wireless connection suddenly loses its connectiong and the wireless symbol turns into a question mark. It seems the driver crashes.
Using a Dell Latitude D530 with a Intel Core 2 Duo 2 ghz processor and 1490 Dell Wireless controller.

Comment 4 Felix Schwarz 2016-01-27 11:37:44 UTC
A user mentioned (in the Debian bug report) that upgrading to kernel 4.4 worked for him.

Comment 5 Felix Schwarz 2016-01-27 11:53:37 UTC
Just for the sake of completeness: I think there are similar reports for Ubuntu (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1525509) and upstream (https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92718).

Comment 6 Isaque Galdino 2016-02-02 16:51:56 UTC
My problem happens when I start the system. I couldn't notice if it was caused by wireless connection or not.

Comment 7 Felix Schwarz 2016-02-05 13:20:42 UTC
Btw: Upgrading to 4.5rc2 (Fedora mainline copr) does not fix the bug for me. Instead I'm seeing the same symptoms but with a slightly different backtrace. The (new) backtrace was already reported upstream: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93782

I guess everyone here is using an old Intel chipset such as GM965/GL960GM?

same issue on kernel 4.3.5-300.fc23.x86_64

Comment 10 mm19827 2016-02-12 21:26:16 UTC
Description of problem:
After kernel upgrade from 4.2.8 to 4.3.5 and reboot, login to GNOME and kernel error message.
GNOME shell responds very slowly most of the times.

Multiple intel video driver backtraces are shown in dmesg. Video chipset is i945 GM.
Note that this CPU does not support PAT, and kernel 4.2 to 4.3 phased out MTRR in favor of PAT.
The same behavior was observed with kernel 4.3.3
Tried with kernel 4.4.1-300.vanilla.knurd.1.fc23.i686+PAE, seems better responding, but still multiple backtraces are shown in dmesg.

Just coming here to say "me too", with an error essentially identical to the above, with similarly old hardware.

Comment 13 Stan King 2016-02-28 16:32:55 UTC
I'm still seeing a similar error on the hardware described in Comment 11 after upgrading to 4.4.2-301.fc23.x86_64.

But instead of being found in "drivers/gpu/drm/drm_atomic.c:491 drm_atomic_check_only+0x4bf/0x5a0 [drm]()", mine is found in "drivers/gpu/drm/drm_irq.c:1268 drm_wait_one_vblank+0x1b5/0x1c0 [drm]()". I'll see if the reporting system will let me file an additional report with my details.

Comment 15 Fedora End Of Life 2016-11-24 14:57:55 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 23 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 23. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '23'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 23 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 16 Fedora End Of Life 2016-12-20 17:54:55 UTC
Fedora 23 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2016-12-20. Fedora 23 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
