On rhel7.2 release version also hit this issue.

Pkg version:
qemu-kvm-1.5.3-105.el7.x86_64
qemu-img-1.5.3-105.el7.x86_64

steps and results are the same as bug description.

As already stated in the original RHEL 6 bug, this is harmless. Getting rid of the
leaks in the long run would be nice, but this is probably not a change to make for
the stable qemu-kvm version of RHEL.
