Description Peter Trenholme 2016-02-02 17:35:30 UTC
Description of problem: When I boot rawhide, the final step - display of the user names and desktop selection - does not get displayed. The screen is just "all black."

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Everything (except libpsl) at the most recent release level. (libpsl upgrade would require erasing wget, which is needed by Google Chrome and the leksha-server.)

How reproducible: Every boot

Steps to Reproduce: Do a "reboot" or anything requiring a boot or reboot

Actual results: Black screen, not accepting any input, displayed

Expected results: Normal boot selection options displayed

Additional info:

I'm using X, not Wayland, as my window driver.

I can do a "ctrl-alt-F2," etc., to start console sessions, and, from there, a startx to start my default desktop.

Note: Neither GNOME or KDE as the default will work.

When GNOME is set as the default, I get a screen telling me that "Something happened" and a button to click to log out. (A more explicit message might be of help fixing such issues.)

When KDE is set as the default, KDM starts, but the plasma shell segfaults.

Right now my default is set to Mate, which seem to work fine.

This was fixed (for me) after the latest rawhide upgrades were applied. Not sure if this is related, but those updates allowed the new libpsl to be installed after wget was recompiled to use.
