I saw a negative reduction reported when a certain DRPM package was apparently broken:
Delta RPMs reduced 22.6 MB of updates to 28.4 MB (-25.1% saved)

MD5 failure of a DRPM package (mirror probably had a broken download)

Report no savings, or less (but positive) savings due to one package failing.
