journalctl log

Description of problem: The computer resumes from sleep spontaneously. I put "high" severity as this is likely to cause hardware damage. Both because the battery is drained excessively, and because of high temperature if the computer is in a tight space (sleeve, bag, etc.)

Hardware is Dell XPS 12 laptop (with touch screen).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
4.3.4-300.fc23.x86_64 #1 SMP

How reproducible:
Has happened multiple times. I haven't been able to establish a pattern.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Put computer to sleep.
2. Leave it like that for a while.

Actual results:
Battery is drained, computer shut down.

Expected results:
Computer still in sleep mode.

Additional info:
Attached file generated from: journalctl | tail -n 50000 | gzip -c > log.txt.gz
See timestamp Feb 15 10:36:32 in the attached log for when the machine woke up unexpectedly (it was then located in a bag in a parked car, unlikely that anything physical could have triggered the wakeup)

*********** MASS BUG UPDATE **************

We apologize for the inconvenience. There is a large number of bugs to go through and several of them have gone stale. Due to this, we are doing a mass bug update across all of the Fedora 23 kernel bugs.

Fedora 23 has now been rebased to 4.7.4-100.fc23. Please test this kernel update (or newer) and let us know if you issue has been resolved or if it is still present with the newer kernel.

If you have moved on to Fedora 24 or 25, and are still experiencing this issue, please change the version to Fedora 24 or 25.

If you experience different issues, please open a new bug report for those.

Comment 2 Marius Bjørnstad 2016-10-03 11:30:56 UTC
Thanks for looking at this bug. Unfortunately, I no longer use Fedora. For what it's worth, it works on Ubuntu 16.04 with kernel 4.4.0-38. Sorry I can't provide more details.

Is there genuine interest in tracking down this issue? If so, I'm happy to boot from a live USB and leave the laptop in sleep for a while, but it won't be until 2 weeks from now, because I'm going travelling.

Accidentally clear NEEDINFO. Since I didn't provide the info, I will leave it on.

Comment 4 Laura Abbott 2016-10-03 14:48:26 UTC
If you aren't interested in tracking the bug, I'm just going to close it for now. This can be reopened if the problem is reported.
