RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Doc Type: Release Note
Doc Text:
*pcsd* now supports setting SSL options and ciphers Previously, the *pcsd* service did not enable the user to easily disable a cipher or a particular version of the SSL or TSL protocol if a vulnerability was found of if the protocol version or the cipher was considered weak for some reason. With this update, the user can easily configure SSL options and ciphers in *pcsd*, and RC4 ciphers as well as TLS protocol version 1.1 and earlier are disabled by default.

Red Hat Product Errata RHSA-2016:2596 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE Moderate: pcs security, bug fix, and enhancement update 2016-11-03 12:11:34 UTC

Description Josef Zimek 2016-03-08 10:54:01 UTC
Description of problem:

When using RHEL 7.2 pacemaker cluster there is no possibility to disable certain versions of TLS in pcsd daemon. Some customers have concerns about security and getting security alerts from auditing software (such as Qualys) which checks the ports for vulnerable protocol versions. As of now there is no other way to disable TLS1.0 and TLS1.1 than manually modifying file /usr/lib/pcsd/ssl.rb and changing this line:

FROM:

  :SSLOptions         => OpenSSL::SSL::OP_NO_SSLv2 | OpenSSL::SSL::OP_NO_SSLv3,

TO:

  :SSLOptions         => OpenSSL::SSL::OP_NO_SSLv2 | OpenSSL::SSL::OP_NO_SSLv3 | OpenSSL::SSL::OP_NO_TLSv1 | OpenSSL::SSL::OP_NO_TLSv1_1,

And then restarting the pcsd.service. However this workaround is not persistent to package updates.

Expected results:

Option in pcsd GUI (or configuration file) to disable certain versions of TLS.

Comment 2 Tomas Jelinek 2016-03-08 11:24:57 UTC
We also want to be able to disable particular ciphers.

By default, pcsd should only accept TLSv1.2 and should not accept RC4 ciphers.
