Description of problem: IdM Web UI in RHEL-7.2 or older only allows Kerberos or Password authentication. The Web UI capabilities should be extended to also allow Federated authentication, targeting especially Cloud environments or FreeIPA running out of corporate internal network, where Kerberos is not allowed. This change means changing current Web UI authentication architecture, which does a kinit internally, when a password is passed. This cannot be done with the Federation as Web UI does not have access to any Kerberos material. User Story: As an User with an account in a corporate Identity Management (IdM, AD) solution and with IdP exposed to outer world, I want to authenticate with my federated account to IdM Server in a Cloud, so that I can setup my SSH Public Key used for authentication to Cloud Virtual Machines.

Is this feature going to be released/available in 7.3 or should this move to 7.4?
The Federated Web UI Login use case was postponed to later RHEL release (tentatively targeting RHEL-7.4). For 7.3, please use Bug 1317379 for tracking. The other bug also holds extended information on the intended support status: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1317379#c2
Moving this to RHEL 8 backlog. This will be needed for JIT provisioning, but with the current position of RHEL7 in the lifecycle, will not make it in as RFE.
This BZ has been evaluated multiple times over the last several years and we assessed that it is a valuable request to keep in the backlog and address it at some point in future. Time showed that we did not have such capacity, nor have it now nor will have in the foreseeable future. In such a situation keeping it in the backlog is misleading and setting the wrong expectation that we will be able to address it. Unfortunately we will not. To reflect this we are closing this BZ. If you disagree with the decision please reopen or open a new support case and create a new BZ. However this does not guarantee that the request will not be closed during the triage as we are currently applying much more rigor to what we actually can accomplish in the foreseeable future.
