I worked with Andrew Niemantsverdriet (FAS: kaptk2) on burp 1.x packaging (see its changelog). Intended scope of this packaging: EPEL-6, EPLEL-7, F22, F23, F24, rawhide. Builds are fine in COPR and I use this packaging under CentOS7 since weeks.

v1.x is no longer maintained upstream. Why not just update the burp package that is already part of Fedora? Did you reach its maintainers?
