Description Noriko Mizumoto 2016-03-31 09:02:11 UTC
How to reproduce:
1. Run seaert -b
2. Launch app
3. Click 'Troubleshoot' button
4. 'if you are trying' section appears in left and 'solution' section in right

Actual results:
Left 'if you are trying' section, the sentence like "If you believe that $SOURCE_BASE_PATH should be allowed $ACCESS access on the $TARGET_BASE_PATH $TARGET_CLASS by default." shows up. The sentence seems split into two files in Zanata (setroubleshoot and setroubleshoot-plugins). This makes translators unable to give correct translation.

setroubleshoot (framework/po/) contains "If"
setroubleshoot-plugins (plugins/po/) contains "you believe that $SOURCE_BASE_PATH should be allowed $ACCESS access on the $TARGET_BASE_PATH $TARGET_CLASS by default."

Expected results:
Either of setroubleshoot or setroubleshoot-plugins should contains the full sentence with conma at the end instead full stop, such as "If you believe that $SOURCE_BASE_PATH should be allowed $ACCESS access on the $TARGET_BASE_PATH $TARGET_CLASS by default,"

Comment 2 Petr Lautrbach 2016-04-17 12:14:08 UTC
Thanks for the link. We're already working on the change. setroubleshoot plugins will contain whole strings with "If " on the beginning.

Comment 3 Petr Lautrbach 2016-04-20 16:09:01 UTC
I have the code prepared for update with strings which are not split between setroubleshoot and setroubleshoot-plugins - https://github.com/bachradsusi/setroubleshoot/commit/e76b5e23d02b6fdda17992b48d503da7ca856dac https://github.com/bachradsusi/setroubleshoot/commit/1f16d59111a00a9d6876b838e260c0aa19b57c91

How should I go ahead and not break translations a lot?

When I regenerate translation source files .pot and push them to zanata, I guess all if_text's in plugins will be untranslated. Do I need to announce it somewhere? How long should I wait until I push it as a regular update to Fedora?

Comment 4 Noriko Mizumoto 2016-04-21 02:28:06 UTC
Hi Petr

It is great news, thank you!
I wish that this does not impact current release of F24.
It is best for us, translators, to have this change after F24, so that we will have plenty of time to update our translation. If the strings have been translated previously, those will be saved in Translation Memory and should be viewable. However it would be nice if you can make an announcement at trans lists ML before pushing any change.

Comment 5 Fedora End Of Life 2017-07-25 20:26:57 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 24 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 2 (two) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 24. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '24'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 24 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 6 Fedora End Of Life 2017-08-08 14:08:09 UTC
Fedora 24 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-08-08. Fedora 24 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Comment 7 Petr Lautrbach 2017-08-22 06:45:51 UTC
This change is applied in upstream repository now [1] and changes were propagated to zanata source files in master branch [2]
