Description Марко М. Костић (Marko M. Kostić) 2016-04-29 10:42:24 UTC
Description of problem:
Some strings in the Firefox 45 package aren't translated, in Fedora 23, although they are translated in the Windows version of the program. I have noticed that the following strings do not appear translated:
Paste & Go
Mute Tab

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Firefox 45, Fedora 23

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Firefox via terminal with 'LANG=sr_RS.UTF-8 firefox',
2. Right click on a tab and observe how string "Mute Tab" isn't translated.
3. Also, right click in the address bar and note how "Paste & Go" isn't translated into the Serbian Cyrillic.

Actual results:
Some strings aren't translated into Serbian although they are translated in the Windows version of Firefox.

Expected results:
All strings translated in the Windows version of the Firefox should appear translated in the Fedora's version of Firefox.

I don't use translated version, but this is maybe more like a upstream issue? Have you tried pre-built binaries provided by mozilla for linux, is it the same?

Comment 2 Марко М. Костић (Marko M. Kostić) 2016-04-29 13:06:00 UTC
I've already talked with the Serbian upstream translators and they do not notice this problem in the Firefox Windows build. I have downloaded the Linux 64bit tarball of Firefox 45, executed it and it also doesn't have this problem with untranslated strings.

Comment 3 Марко М. Костић (Marko M. Kostić) 2016-04-29 13:07:22 UTC
Just to clarify, the Mozilla's build of Firefox 45 doesn't have untranslated strings while the build of Firefox from the Fedora repos does have so I assume this is the problem on the Fedora's side.

By looking at package scm (git repo) "we" have some archive I guess with all languages, not sure how that is generated ...
I looked upstream (I'm noob with this), found translations for the release
for example: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/46.0/linux-x86_64/xpi/

extracted, and did some grepping

./browser/chrome/sr/locale/browser/browser.properties:muteTab.label = Пригуши језичак

Mute tab looks translated?
also for paste and go

./browser/chrome/sr/locale/browser/browser.properties:pasteAndGo.label=Налепи и иди

Let's ask maintainer(s)?

Comment 5 Марко М. Костић (Marko M. Kostić) 2016-04-29 13:12:59 UTC
Yep. "Mute Tab" is „Пригуши језичак“ and "Paste & Go" should be translated as „Налепи и иди“. I also agree about involving the maintainers into this bug report.

Comment 6 Branko Grubić 2016-04-29 13:18:54 UTC
I guess this should be re-assigned to firefox as a component, but we will wait.

Comment 7 Branko Grubić 2016-04-29 13:22:41 UTC
This is most likely related to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1315755
