Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
RHEL Engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on RHEL 6 through RHEL 9 to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs in the statuses "NEW", "ASSIGNED", and "POST" are being migrated throughout September 2023. Bugs of Red Hat partners with an assigned Engineering Partner Manager (EPM) are migrated in late September as per pre-agreed dates. Bugs against components "kernel", "kernel-rt", and "kpatch" are only migrated if still in "NEW" or "ASSIGNED". If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "RHEL project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/RHEL-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description Sudhir Menon 2016-05-19 10:10:47 UTC
Description of problem: When adcli command is used with --unix-* values they are not reflected in Unix Attributes tab.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
adcli-0.7.5-4.el7.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. adcli create-user user2 --unix-shell /bin/bash --unix-home /home/user1 --domain=ipa.in
2. Check the Unix Attributes tab in Windows AD for the specific user created.

Actual results:
The Unix Attributes tab is not updated for the user.

Expected results:
The Unix Attributes tab should be updated for the user.

Additional info:
sbose> it looks like the GUI tool check the msSFU30NisDomain attribute first when opening the 'UNIX attributes' tab and if this is not present it won't read or display other attributes even if the exist in the object.

Comment 1 Sudhir Menon 2016-05-19 10:14:25 UTC
Also we need to update the 'man adcli' page on how it works, currently it doesn't mention that if msSFU30NisDomain attribute is not set then it won't read or display other attributes even if the object exists.

===man adcli===
--unix-home=/home/user
Set the unixHomeDirectory attribute of the new created user account, which should be an absolute path to the user's home directory.

--unix-gid=111
Set the gidNumber attribute of the new created user account, which should be the user's numeric primary group id.

--unix-shell=/bin/shell
Set the pos attribute of the new created user account, which should be the user's numeric primary user id.

--unix-uid=111
Set the loginShell attribute of the new created user account, which should be a path to a valid shell.

Comment 2 Sumit Bose 2016-05-19 10:50:19 UTC
Please note that this is only about the Windows GUI tool. The attributes are properly added to the user's LDAP object and are read e.g. by SSSD and other tools.

Additionally the Window utility will only display the value if a NIS domain is configured on the AD side at all and the 'UNIX attributes' tab will most probably removed from upcoming Windows versions.
