Comment 2 Robert Freeman-Day 2016-06-28 21:02:18 UTC
Description of problem:
I was using the xfce spin of fedora and recently upgraded in place from 23 to 24. I also replaced xscreensaver with light-locker. I used the hotkey to lock my screen when this happened. I have been able to lock the screen with this configuration without issue before.

Comment 3 Robert Freeman-Day 2016-06-29 02:32:57 UTC
The GUI abrt reporter did not seem to work un uploading to retrace.fedoraproject.org. Can you walk me through manually uploading it or link me to docs?

Comment 4 Robert Freeman-Day 2016-06-30 12:59:44 UTC
I still need additional pointers for getting the info needed for this bug to retrace. Can this be done? What else needs to happen to have this bug set to CONFIRMED and moving forward?

Comment 5 Robert Freeman-Day 2016-07-08 15:45:39 UTC
I am still getting this, but since it is getting logged to journalctl and not in dmesg. Also it is no longer getting caught by abrt. I would be happy to gather whatever info you need. Please let me know.

Comment 6 Robert Freeman-Day 2016-07-08 15:50:50 UTC
I have also noticed that there are other bugs that get no response from the assignee and then get closed due to EOL.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1179122
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1074329

These look very similar.

Comment 7 Robert Freeman-Day 2016-07-15 19:17:40 UTC
Description of problem:
Was using light-locker to lock my screen. Would not present the login screen and had to "/bin/systemctl restart lightdm.service". That hung for some time and I ctrl+c-ed the job. Then I was presented with lightdm and lost my session.

Comment 10 Alan Schmidt 2016-10-11 22:42:15 UTC
Description of problem:
This seems to happen when I launch kwrite or dolphin, though not every time.
Also, I open and close those two applications all day, so it could be happenstance.

It's difficult to identify a trigger guaranteed to reproduce the problem.
/var/log/messages is so very noisy with KDE information messages, it's difficult to figure out which, if any,
of them are relevant.

Sometimes the machine will lock up, but not always.

The oops mentions nouveau a lot. I have dual monitors, if that's relevant.

Comment 12 Alan Schmidt 2016-10-17 17:53:18 UTC
Description of problem:
This problem happens several times throughout the day. The cause isn't always clear.
It seems to be bracketed by a great deal of chatter from KDE applications.
This time it brought kdepim down with it (I don't ever use kdepim, but it's dragged along
whenever you start a KDE session), but it easily could have been vice-versa.

Aha!

Turning off compositing in KDE makes the problem go away completely.

I know this isn't a "solution," but it does make my workday a happier experience.

I reported the problem on upstream bugtracking platform. This will likely cut fixing timings

Comment 15 Fedora End Of Life 2017-07-25 21:01:48 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 24 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 2 (two) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 24. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '24'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 24 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Comment 16 Fedora End Of Life 2017-08-08 14:46:52 UTC
Fedora 24 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-08-08. Fedora 24 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you
are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the
current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this
bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
