Description Jan Pazdziora (Red Hat) 2016-06-14 08:03:15 UTC
Description of problem:

After installing ipsilon-infosssd, the option --info-sssd still does not work.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

ipsilon-infosssd-1.2.0-4.fc23.noarch

How reproducible:

Deterministic.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. dnf install -y ipsilon ipsilon-authform ipsilon-saml2 ipsilon-infosssd
2. ipsilon-server-install --form yes --info-sssd yes

Actual results:

 ipsilon-server-install --form yes --info-sssd yes
[14/Jun/2016:03:57:09] Failed to load "infosssd" module: [No module named SSSDConfig]

ipsilon-server-install: error: unrecognized arguments: --info-sssd yes

Expected results:

# ipsilon-server-install --form yes --info-sssd yes
Installation initiated
Installing default config files
Configuring environment helpers
Configuring login managers
Configuring Info provider
Loading SSSD config failed: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/etc/sssd/sssd.conf'
Configuration of info provider sssd failed
Installation aborted.
See log file /var/log/ipsilon-install.log for details

which is what I get when I manually install the python-sssdconfig.

Additional info:

Of course, the error message could be even nicer than "Loading SSSD config failed" -- something about machine not being IPA-enrolled or in general not having SSSD configured.

Of course 2, if people primarily IPA-enroll the machines for use with --info-sssd, they will install freeipa-client which will pull in the python-sssdconfig so they won't hit the problem. But with minimal and manual SSSD configurations, having the dependency there if it's needed in run-time would be nice.

Comment 1 Fedora End Of Life 2016-11-25 09:18:03 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 23 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 4 (four) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 23. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version'
of '23'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version.

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not
able to fix it before Fedora 23 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version
of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora
version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

Fedora 27 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2018-11-30. Fedora 27 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the

bug.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Comment 9 Jan Pazdziora (Red Hat) 2018-12-07 12:34:51 UTC
The problem is still present on Fedora 29, with

ipsilon-2.1.0-3.fc28.noarch
ipsilon-infosssd-2.1.0-3.fc28.noarch

Comment 10 Jan Pazdziora (Red Hat) 2018-12-07 12:36:36 UTC
On Fedora 27 and 29, even if python2-sssdconfig is installed, the command then fails with

[07/Dec/2018:12:35:51] Failed to load "infosssd" module: [No module named dbus]

Would you like separate bugzilla for that?

Comment 11 Ivica Perović 2019-02-04 14:21:43 UTC
Manual installation of following packages resolved the issue on Fedora 29 for me: python2-sssdconfig python2-dbus python2-ipalib python2-ipaclient

Comment 12 Jan Pazdziora (Red Hat) 2019-02-04 15:27:49 UTC
Sure. But installing dependencies manually shouldn't be needed, it kills the whole purpose of having the software packaged in distribution.

Comment 13 Ivica Perović 2019-02-07 08:28:48 UTC
I totally agree. Just wanted to save some time for people looking for a workaround before this gets fixed.

Comment 14 Jan Pazdziora (Red Hat) 2019-05-09 18:46:19 UTC
Hello,

on Fedora 30, Python 2 version of SSSDConfig is no longer there, making ipsilon-infosssd unusable.

What is the plan for ipsilon-infosssd and Ipsilon in Fedora in general?

Comment 15 Jan Pazdziora (Red Hat) 2019-09-11 08:53:10 UTC
Python 3 based Ipsilon is now available in Fedora rawhide, bug 1629749.

The issue is still present on Fedora 30 but it seems to be resolved on Fedora 31 with ipsilon-infosssd-2.1.0-9.git20190910.aa89b1f.fc31.

Should this bugzilla be in CLOSED / CURRENTRELEASE (or NEXTRELEASE) state?
