Note: This bug is displayed in read-only format because the product is no longer active in Red Hat Bugzilla.
Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

Description jalviso 2016-06-21 21:37:07 UTC
Document URL:

In Sat6.1, we have guide for Red Hat Hypervisor "KVM" in this link;

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Satellite/6.1/html/Installation_Guide/chap-Red_Hat_Satellite-Installation_Guide-Managing_Hypervisors_and_Virtual_Guest_Subscriptions.html

I could understand this guide is moved to Virtual Instances (a separate guide).

Section Number and Name:

This chapter has below section but none for RHEL-H Hypervisor:

6.4. Setting up a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager Server or Libvirt (KVM) Hypervisor

I open BZ 1278632, it is now address in https://access.stage.redhat.com/documentation/en/red-hat-satellite/version-6.2-beta/virtual-instances-guide/

Describe the issue:

Section below has the guide for configuring virt-who in RHEL-H.

5.4. Configuring virt-who to Connect to a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Hypervisor

But it has missing part of configuring the RHEL-H hypervisor itself.
We need a guide into how to setup/configure/register the RHEL-H Hypervisor
as it is then needed by virt-who.

Suggestions for improvement:

https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Satellite/6.1/html/Installation_Guide/chap-Red_Hat_Satellite-Installation_Guide-Managing_Hypervisors_and_Virtual_Guest_Subscriptions.html

We should have a section in the guide like above link separate from Virtual Instances guide which is specific to virt-who configuration on different Hypervisor.

Or up to Docs team how to arrange the docs to add the guide for RHed Hat Hypervisor products like KVM, RHEL-H, RHEV-M

Additional information:

For configuring RHEL-H Hypervisor, this KCS covers the portion of registering
the RHEL-H first to the Satellite 6;

[Satellite6] How to configure virt-who in VDSM mode to work with RHEL-H?
