Description of problem: Can't switch right handed to left handed mouse on desktop(!) computers. It works for me on my notebook (Thinkpad) Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): How reproducible: Steps to Reproduce: 1. create new user 2. login 3. switch right handed to left handed mouse Actual results: mouse is still a right handed one Expected results: mouse is switched to left handed one Additional info: even with gsettings the mouse buttons aren't changed, but the command gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.mouse left-handed

Which exact version of gnome-settings-daemon and mutter are installed? > even with gsettings the mouse buttons aren't changed, but the command > > gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.mouse left-handed The command what? Seems to be missing the end of the sentence. The correct command with GNOME 3.20 would be: gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.mouse left-handed You can change that using gsettings or dconf-editor.
The installed versions of mutter and gnome-settings-daemon are: - mutter-3.20.3-1.fc24.x86_64 - gnome-settings-daemon-3.20.1-3.fc24.x86_64 The command gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.mouse left-handed says true The command gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.mouse left-handed true doesn't change the behaviour of the mouse dconf-editor shows true or false, but the mouse's behaviour is always the same: it's a right-handed mouse. By the way: when I use the the Live-Desktop from a USB stick, I can switch the mouse's behaviour!
Make sure xorg-x11-drv-evdev and xorg-x11-drv-synaptics are not installed, and attach the output of "sudo libinput-list-devices" on your system. Reassigning to mutter as that's where the setting is applied.
Created attachment 1207969 [details] output of libinput-list-devices
I alse have this problem. I did a fedup on my F23 desktop to F24 and after that it's impossible to change to left-handed mouse.
Same issue on Fedora 25. Settings / Mouse and Touchpad / Primary Button setting Right has no effect (whether Primary Button setting is set to Left or Right does not change the primary and secondary button of the mouse).
Same on Fedora 25, but with a twist: It works OK under Gnome on wayland, but fails with Gnome on Xorg. It is driving me insane because I am trying to provide remote support via screen sharing, to my left-handed wife, but screen-sharing does not work on wayland. Any work-around would be gratefully received. "Make sure xorg-x11-drv-evdev and xorg-x11-drv-synaptics are not installed, and attach the output of "sudo libinput-list-devices" on your system." I uninstalled both. libinput-list-devices reports: ------------------ Device: PIXART USB OPTICAL MOUSE Kernel: /dev/input/event4 Group: 5 Seat: seat0, default Capabilities: pointer Tap-to-click: n/a Tap-and-drag: n/a Tap drag lock: n/a Left-handed: disabled Nat.scrolling: disabled Middle emulation: disabled Calibration: n/a Scroll methods: button Click methods: none Disable-w-typing: n/a Accel profiles: flat *adaptive Rotation: n/a

For me, the immediate problem is solved, but it would be nice if it worked out of the box.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 24 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 2 (two) weeks from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 24. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as EOL if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '24'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version. Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we were not able to fix it before Fedora 24 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora, you are encouraged change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior this bug is closed as described in the policy above. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete.

I can't edit this bug, somebody please move version to F25.

Fedora 25 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2017-12-12. Fedora 25 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. If you are unable to reopen this bug, please file a new report against the current release. If you experience problems, please add a comment to this bug.
