Description John Matthews 2016-06-29 11:26:39 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #1351156 +++

Description of problem:

Unable to delete a running VM from Hosts.

VM is created on RHEV through a ComputeResource.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Seen with Sat 6.2

How reproducible:
Intermittent, happens on my setups 90% or more of time, but others on team have seen success.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch a VM on RHEV through a compute resource
2. From the Sat WebUI Hosts, click on the host and select Delete
3. See error

To work around this,
 - manually log into RHEV and power down the VM
 - once it is off then you can delete from Sat or if you previously failed you need to find the task and resume it

Actual results:

Error: Failed to destroy a compute rhev4beta1-RHEV (RHEV) instance rhev4beta1-cfme.example.com: Cannot remove VM. VM is running.

Expected results:

VM is deleted

Additional info:

Comment 1 John Matthews 2016-06-29 11:29:36 UTC
Note in above comment I mentioned we would resume the "Destroy Content Host" task to delete the VM if we saw an error. In Sat 6.2 we do not need to resume the task, we can wait 1-2 minutes and retry the delete from Hosts tab and VM is deleted.
