Verified in 5.6.1.0 using our vSphere 5.5, I switched off the Provider Inventory role after the provider got refreshed, then I did:

HostStorage.all.each {|hs| hs.read_only = true; hs.save! }

And then I went to provision VMs. There were no datastores for manual selection and when I checked the automatic selection, the provision request has failed with "[MiqException::MiqProvisionError]: Destination placement_ds_name not provided"
