Description of problem: Upgrading to kernel-core-4.6.3-300.fc24.x86_64 I lost sound on my Broadwell core-m laptop (Dell Latitude 7350). Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kernel-4.6.3-300.fc24.x86_64 How reproducible: 100% reproducible. The problem is apparently the CONFIG_SND_SOC_INTEL_BROADWELL_MACH is no longer selected in the 4.6 kernel where as it all worked fine before: [root@gnome ~]# grep BROADW /boot/config-4.* /boot/config-4.5.6-300.fc24.x86_64:CONFIG_SND_SOC_INTEL_BROADWELL_MACH=m /boot/config-4.5.7-300.fc24.x86_64:CONFIG_SND_SOC_INTEL_BROADWELL_MACH=m [root@gnome ~]# rpm -qa | grep kernel-core kernel-core-4.5.6-300.fc24.x86_64 kernel-core-4.6.3-300.fc24.x86_64 kernel-core-4.5.7-300.fc24.x86_64
Should be fixed in the next build. With the rebase I accidentally dropped CONFIG_DW_DMAC_CORE=y (because it's actually a terrible hack but upstream made a poor choice requiring that for sound on these platforms).
Any ETA on a new build of the kernel with this config option
(In reply to charles profitt from comment #2) > Any ETA on a new build of the kernel with this config option Later this week. The Fedora updates system will leave comments when it's filed.
@Josh - the week is over yet no comment from the updates system and I'm still experiencing this with the latest kernel from @updates - 4.6.3-300.fc24. I see that you kicked off a build on July 5 for 4.6.3-200 - was that the build with the fix? Is it possible that someone beat you to bumping the version number? :)
