Description Florian Weimer 2016-07-20 16:16:35 UTC
In Fedora 25, the NIS NSS modules have been moved to the nss_nis package. The System Administrator's Guide needs to be updated to mention that both ypbind and nss_nis packages need to be installed in order to enable NIS support.

Hello Florian

I am struggling to find where this change should be made.

Could you take a look at the section [1] and give me some advice please.

Thank you

Looks like I reported this bug against an older version of the guide which still had a chapter “Configuring Authentication”. There was some discussion of ypbind in it. I don't know why it is gone from the current version. The need for configuring authentication doesn't really go away with newer Fedora versions.

I'm going to close this as I'd like to close the entire Fedora Documentation product and the Sysadmin Guide is due for a total rewrite anyway at this point.
